Throughout high school I have ensured that I am the hardest working, most committed and ultimately dedicated person both in the classroom and on the course. I know many factors are out of my control, but I know that I will always have the ability to control my work ethic and leadership skills.
Coach Brown has named me captain for the last 2 years, and I believe I have upheld this role well. I take pride in this position, as it is my job to keep my teammates’ morale high, in order to give them the best opportunity of attaining success. Although many may look at golf as an individual sport, the team aspect is crucial to success. During my time as captain, I exert all of my energy into keeping the chemistry of the team together. It is my job to keep their confidence high and never let anyone feel down about themselves. I would sacrifice anything for my teammates, as they are the most important aspect in the game of golf to me. Yet, I know how to perform on the big stage. In a crucial match or tournament, I find ways to stay calm and relaxed, while still finding ways to dial up the intensity and perform at my peak performance.
As a young freshman who was new to the game of competitive golf, I sought a leader or role model I could look up to. Now as I am entering my Senior year, I want to serve as that leader for our underclassmen. During the summer of 2019, I am independently running summer practices without coaches. My goal of these practices is to create relationships between the lower classmen and I. I hope these practices serves as a platform to give my team success along the road.
My strongest quality on the golf course is my body language. Whether I am leading the tournament or in last place, no one will ever see me pouting or boasting about myself. In order to play my best golf, I know I have to control my mental game as much as possible. This keeps me calm during a round, allowing me to play from start to finish with the best of my ability. I never let myself see a situation in a negative light. By doing this, I can keep the positivity alive during a tournament.
Finally, my work ethic is something I take much pride in. From the course to the classroom, I assure I am the hardest working person in the room because this is something I can control. At the end of my junior year, I felt I lost strokes due to distance and my size. At the time I was a slim 125 pounds. After talking to my coach and trainer, Brendan Doyle, we discussed a circuit of exercises and nutritional ways to increase my muscle mass and swing speed. I am happy to say that in a 4 month span I increased my swing speed 8 miles per hour and gained 15 pounds and now hit the ball 20 yards longer with my driver. This is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication I put into the game of golf.
Thank you for taking the time to read my resume. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please feel free to email or call me to receive any more information
