Personal Statement
My name is Robert Klayton Brown but I go by Klayton or Klay. I am a determined hard working student and athlete that wants to make a difference both in class and on the course. It is a dream of mine to play college golf and continue to grow as a golfer with a team that supports and encourages each other to improve. I started playing competitive golf my freshman and had very little talent. After my first tournament I was hooked to the game in every way. Since then I have improved beyond my imagination. So much so that I believe college golf is a reality for me. Through hard work and determination I have been able to build a swing that turned an average of 110+ strokes (per 18 holes) down to an average of 85 strokes (since 2018). Without having a junior season due to COVID-19, the realization that college golf could become a reality did not come until recently. I am also a very academically inclined student. With a 4.008 weighted GPA along with being involved in multiple clubs and extracurricular activities, I have no shortage of work ethic and determination. I would like to pursue a degree in either electrical or civil engineering and have taken dual enrollment classes in order to prepare me for the weight of college work. If there is one defining characteristic about me it is that I never give up on things that I want to learn and excel in.
