Attributes that’ll make me a good college student-athlete (Golfer): It is quite challenging to manage time demanding sports and keep school grades at the highest level. Particularly studying higher tier courses in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics to pursue degree in Engineering at top USA engineering schools. It requires very high self-commitment, strict time management discipline. I am doing this since 10 years of my age and tuned to continue this till end. At current stage my golf game is in a good stage and I am sure over the time it will improve a lot since I want to reach and achieve the highest rewards of golf sports.
I will be a good college teammate: I am learning and playing Golf at Qatar Junior Golf Academy under PGA certified trainers since 2010. In 2014 I got accepted into Doha Oilman’s Academy that I consider as my first golf recognition. DOA is a corporate voluntary organisation, stakeholders of this organisation are Qatar Petroleum, Oxidental Qatar, Haliburton Qatar, etc. In DOA, PGA certified coaches provide coaching round the year 2 days a week. Over these ears I got conversant playing golf tournaments in different game formats (Stroke play, Stable ford, etc). Over the time my scoring also gets better than my average and in numerous occasion me and my team came in the top performing list.
Strong adaptability to situation: Qatar is a truly multicultural country work force from more than 90 nations worldwide. Schools are not an exception to this, which helps me to adapt, understand and respect values, customs of my peers and counterparts. I am well experienced playing golf in extreme weather like teperature 37 Degree Celsius and over, heavy Dust and desert wind. In addition to this I played golf in tropical south Asian weather too.
Goals of my college Golf : I want to focus on learning and playing college golf under supervision of highly skilled and experienced college golf coaches and learn hands-on experience technical know-how that will help me pitching into US national golf programs.
My strengths: I can play all the clubs seamlessly particularly long irons, woods, and driving off the tee. I can consistently drive the ball over 230 yds. and 200 yrds over with 4 iron. I am positive about continuous learning through hard practice and development of game temperament through participation into more competitive tournaments.
My weaknesses: Occasional absent mindedness effecting my game and shot selection. I need to work more on planning and game strategy. I see these as ongoing improvement area and wining game with lower gross are proof of overcoming my short comings. In addition to above I need to work on developing mental toughness in pressure as well as getting physically fit for long sessions.
Way forward with my golf : While most of my school friends spent their time playing PS3, football in the ally, etc. I spent my time 25 KM away from my home at Doha golf club. Golf to me is like "red blood cell in my body fluid system". I am very grateful to my family for their resoluteness and trust on me. All of my achievement so far are due to my family’s support. I’ll drive this to the end to see the success that my family dreamt on me, this is my promise.
Personal StatementSince I started playing competetive golf tournaments at age 12, I have always dreamed of playing USA college golf at a top-rated competitive program D1 NCAA and eventually compete and win a national championship.
After completing IGCSE from Doga British school, qatar with core GPA 3.64 and I’m currently pursuing A level at Doha College,Qatar one if the best British school in middle Easter region. r. My choosen subjects are Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Geography, I am certain that I can push for higher B or ‘over the next 12 months of AS. I am planning to appear my first ACT in Oct 2016.
Since I understand the concept of STEM, I set my goal to pursue petroleum engineering in order to take a role in Energy industry And like to work towards finding some effective and sustainable energy solutions and make the earth sustainable for the next generation to come. Pursuing such a challenging research oriented course and simultaneously pursuing a demanding sports like Golf would not be easy without logistic and mental support of my parents who continuously get me into rigorous self-discipline program.
I am confident to succeed as I did in 2014 when I changed my school and was upgraded by one year that took away one very vital one year of study. With my extra commitment I caught up the pace of advance studies. In 2015 my self-commitment to golf also helps me achieve few milestones. I am happy with my current progression but not complacent as there is no end for development.
