Hello, my name is Parker Hilchey, and I am a junior at Camden Hills Regional High School. As soon as I started playing golf at an early age, it has been my passion. I love playing and competing in many sports, but golf has always been where I have found success and have the drive to continue to improve. Golf in New England is a commitment. With temperatures during the season ranging from 30-90 degrees, you never know what to expect and need to plan for all weather conditions.
I have played on junior golf tours and with my school teams around my state and in New England for the last few years. I have been voted the captain of my golf team for the last two years. I have enjoyed teaching the younger players the rules and etiquette of the game. My freshman year, I was lucky enough to have a very gifted and driven teammate that now plays at Florida State. He helped me improve my mental game and the way I practice. I am always looking to learn from coaches and teammates.
I believe in setting high goals for myself. This summer, I made a goal to qualify and play in the Maine State Amateur Tournament. I qualified for the tournament and was the youngest player to make the cut with a 226 3 day total. My 33rd place finish out of 150 amateurs secured me a spot in next year's tournament.
I work hard on the course, on the range, and in the classroom. I have had success as a student at Camden Hills Regional Highschool. I have continuously made the Honor Roll and was accepted into the National Honors Society this year as a junior.
I see college as an opportunity to continue to grow as a student and athlete. With the help of professors, coaches and teammates, I am looking forward to seeing where my hard work, dedication, perseverance, and coachability can take me.
