Personal Statement
Screenwriter, Charles Rosin claims that "golf isn't a game, but rather a choice, that one makes with one's life." At eighteen months I picked up my first golf club and made a choice that defines who I will someday be. I am a five foot eight inch 140 pound golfer from Belchertown, Massachusetts, and will be graduating in the year 2012. Since the age of eight I have played in tournaments organized by the CTPGA. I have been a member of the AJGA and USGA for the last two years. I played my first AJGA tournament last summer and placed in the top 20%, receiving two exemptions. Currently, I am participating in the Hank Haney Junior Golf High Performance Academy in North Stonington, CT. This past spring and summer I have played in many US Challenge Cup tournaments. During the past four years I have been a member of the varsity high school team and was Western Massachusetts champion the year 2008. In this my senior year, I was chosen to be Team Captain once again. I praise those that I golf with, providing them with encouragement as well constructive guidance so that we can play as a cohesive team. I am looking for a college where I can find a balance between the classroom and golf course. I am seeking an environment that will continue to build my self-confidence and further develop my skills. Also, I would like to pursue a college with an academic reputation in the field of business. I always strive to do my best and am very motivated to improve my golf game. Although most would argue that golf is just a "game," I see it as a choice that will continue to direct my life.
