Personal Statement
Hi Coaches,
My name is Oliver Hermann, and I live near Boston (the city of champions!).
We know how to play sports as a TEAM and strive to win banners. That's what we do up here. I'd been mostly a baseball player, skier and all around athlete with excellent grades... and then I got hooked on golf a few years ago. Over the last 3 seasons, I've improved from a 14 handicap to a 1 handicap (play less than 6 months per year due to cold weather home!). I play summer golf at the Golf Club of New England in Stratham NH; we hosted the US Junior Amateur a few years ago, it is a very challenging course. My high school is an all boys prep school and we are a sports powerhouse in New England- St Johns Prep, Danvers MASS. Unfortunately we just missed winning the state title as we finished 3rd. I work out a lot, and work with a coach (Marc Spencer, Windham NH) in 2018. He played d1 golf at U Georgia.
I hope to have a chance to play college golf as I'm improving rapidly. I'm now working on golf year around and have dropped baseball. I've played in a few junior tournaments but we did not do the whole junior golf circuit as both of my parents work full time. My grades are very solid with a 4.3/4.0 GPA, and 1360 SATs. I want to go to a top school in a warm weather location like California or Texas or NC/FL/GA/VA or maybe Ivy league if I stay up north.
You may find more talented kids that have played more AJGA golf, but I'm a super competitive player, I love the grind of golf, and I feel like I'm just getting started in this game. I have a lot of upside to improve, and you have probably never heard of me. I may be the next Phil or Bubba, as I'm a lefty and I love making great shots. You should check me out.
