Personal Statement
Golf has been in my life since I was 2 years old. It is one of the main things in my life that motivates me.
As a descendant of the Chippewa Tribe, growing up on the White Earth Indian Reservation, I have seen many people let their dreams and goals slip away. Early on, I decided that I wasn't going to let that happen to me, just because of where I was raised. I know that there are bigger and better things out there for me. I believe that growing up and working on my family farm has also shown me that hard work and dedication goes a long way.
Playing golf for a college team is just one of the goals I have for myself. I have been on the A honor roll throughout high school and would like to continue. I believe playing for a college team will keep me focused on my grades, and will give me the motivation to keep my grades as they are now. I know that with the help of teammates and coach, they will keep me on track.
As a golfer, I have had many ups and downs. I believe that comes with the territory. I live in a small community that only offers me a 9 hole golf course to practice on. I would love to go to college in an area that will offer me more challenges, and provide me with the opportunity to play year round, or at least have a longer season. I have never had any formal training, but surprisingly I have improved each year. With hard work and personal research, I have been able to get my swing to where I am comfortable.
As a hardworking Midwest farm boy, I feel that I am very coachable, hardworking and dedicated. I would be a great asset to your team and would really love the opportunity to show you what I can offer.
