Throughout my years of growing up, I was always surrounded by golf. I am a three sport athlete playing basketball, golf, and running cross country. At such a young age I was selected to be the team captain of our golf team as a sophomore, not because of my golf skills, but because of the leadership my teammates saw in me. In addition to that, I was selected to be the captain of the cross country team in my fourth and final year of cross country. Personally, I believe it is important for athletes to diversify themselves and focus on more than one sport, it builds character, and you truly learn a lot about yourself in those different atmospheres.
My ambitions are to continue to pursue my academic and athletic career at the college level. Golf has taught me a lot about commitment as well as the connections and relationships you can make with others. I see myself as a very driven person, working on the grounds crew for the past two years at my home course, New Prague golf club, I have really learned what it takes to be driven. Each day we wake up at 5:50 to start our morning, working from 6:30-2:30 it has taught me time management, self discipline and another level of hard work. Typically I am able to get around 30 hours a week in, and each day after work is a new day to improve. My practice plan starts with the putting green, I set up eight tees around the hole from six feet and have to make all eight in a row without missing. After that, I focus on lag putting and distance control, that usually takes about an hour and a half, and then i'll go out to the range, focusing on hitting precise targets, utilizing the towel drill that helps me so much. Eventually I am able to get out on the course with a shag bag to work on chip shots ranging from green side to sixty yards. Around 9:00 I go home, get some sleep and the process to improve myself as a player and a person repeats.
