Personal Statement

I am looking forward to the next step after I graduate.  I have been playing golf for my school since the 6th grade.  I started playing Varsity in the 7th grade.  My accomplishments in golf for school are: lettering all 5 years for varsity, 4 appearances at the State Golf Tournament (grades 8,9,10,11), I was ranked #1 in class 2A during the 2011 golf season.  I have been medalist in numerous invitationals, including the Mid Min Conference, set record at our sections by shooting 65 (2010) par was 72.  I made the All State Golf team the last 2 years and the All Conference Team the last 4 years, voted MVP the last 4 years.  Our team won the Academic award for our section in the 2010 season.

I have enjoyed playing golf for our school; we have some great coaches and a great golf program.  During the summer and fall months I have stayed active in golf by playing in the:

MGA Tournaments (Minnesota Golf Association) - went to state once as an individual and twice as a team.

Junior PGA Tour - made it to the championship 3 times, won 3rd place in 2009.

PGA Players Tour - made it to the championship last year.

I also played in a variety of tournaments outside of these oraganizations, 3 of my most notable are:

2nd Annual Chaska Invitational Tournament (2010) which is a 2 day tournament held at the Chaska Town & Country Club and Hazeltine National Golf Club.  I won this tournament by scoring 71-77 respectively.

The Birchmont Tournament held at the Bemidji Town & Country Club.  This is a week long match play tournament of which I won the Men's Championship consolation bracket in 2010.

The Optimist-International Junior Golf Championship held in West Palm Beach, Florida at the PGA National Resort.  I played the Champion Course for my practice round and the first 2 days of the tournament.  I shot 73, 82, 77 respectively.  Then I played the Palmer Course my last day of the tournament and shot 72.  I missed the cut by 3.  That was disappointing but I enjoyed the whole experience.

I practice everyday that I can so that I can maintain my competativeness and find ways to improve my golf game.  I want to be part of a golf team that is welcoming to new players and is willing to give them a chance.  I would like to play as one of the starters my freshman season.

What I can bring to a team is: respect, integrity and support, I also feel I can contribute to the teams success.

I am open to going to college where I can get a good education and be able to contribute to the golf team with my abilities/skills.  I have not decided on a major yet but would be interested in Business Administration or related field.

Outside of golf I enjoy hunting, fishing, playing ice hockey and spending time with my family and friends.

Thank you for your time and consideration, it is greatly appreciated.
