Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Fletcher Phillips, I am from Billings, Montana and have always aspired to play golf at the collegiate level.  I have grown up playing golf my whole life and have grown a passion for the game.   My ability to prosper in golf shows by my 2.6 handicap. Golf has many aspects that many cannot cope with, it requires a strong mental game.  My dedication to the sport, and to my academics is what separates me from other prospects.

Not only do I stand out for my golf abilities, but my academics are my strongest point.  I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am enrolled in the most advanced classes offered at my high school.  I go above and beyond in my academics and am able to maintain a solid GPA while doing many extracurricular activities.  I am involved in activities such as winter golf league, snowboarding, hiking, community service activities, I also work as a volunteer for Subaru as an Ambassador.  This includes many community services such as distributing clothing and food, as well as encouraging academic success for young scholars.

I have confidence that I will be able to strive in some of the most academically selective schools in the United States.  My work ethics both in school and golf are what allows me to be successful.  I plan to carry these ethics to college and strive to be the person I hope to be.  I strive to become better both as an individual as I do in golf.  As I am only a sophomore in high school, I can only get better.  I see myself becoming even more successful in my day to day life, and can only imagine what I will be able to accomplish at a university such as yours.

    Thank you,

-Fletcher Phillips
