Devan Patel Golf ...Personal Statement
Golf is an extremely important part of my life, and I feel confident that I should pursue it at the next level. I have always been interested in every part of the game -- from the mental to the physical aspect. I have learned many lessons in golf, not only about playing the game, but life lessons such as perseverance, self-motivation, focus. It has taught me to be present and focused on what I am doing now, not the past. If I have a rough start, I always fight back and find a way to finish strong, no matter what.
These lessons from golf have translated into my academic performance and success. I am determined to continue my passion for the game at the collegiate level while getting a great education. My golf coach, Marcos Zuazu, has said that I am "the most accepting player that [he] has coached" meaning that I accept the result and move forward without hesitation. Any team that I join will receive my best efforts as an individual and a team player.

- I have been working with Coach Marcos Zuazu for over 7 years on all aspects from tee to green. In addition, Coach Marcos has been a mentor to me and guided me in how to manage my self, demeanor, and emotions in tournaments. I have spent hundreds of hours on the old and new course as well as the simulators in the off season to remain conditioned. My home club is Mendham Golf and Tennis, which is a tough training ground as I compete with my younger brother, Alex, who is an amazing golfer with competitive handicap.
