Personal Statement
Currently I am a Junior Enrolled in East Chapel Hill High School with a 4.03 GPA. I have taken a few AP classes as well as multiple honors level classes. I am pursuing playing golf in college in order to experience the camaraderie and life experiences that participating on a college sports team would provide. I aspire to be a strong team player in order to represent my school as well as build lifelong connections. I've played sports (specifically golf) since I was very young, and actually was given my first golf club when I was only 2 years old. I had a love of any sport that included a ball, but my golf club was my favorite sports “tool” that I always could rely on to bring me joy and help me feel successful. I know I would be a good fit for your team because I am competitive, confident, and have a deep fire and passion for the game of golf. I have gained great perseverance through the years and know this skill is critical to bring about winning. I love to be a member of a team, and I see golf as a beautiful combination of individual skill and teamwork. I am passionate about golf and believe that the combination of my skills and deep desire, will only enhance your team’s ability to be successful. I have described myself above as competitive, confident, and passionate. I know these are likely common attributes for recruits you are looking at. However, I am also Resilient, Hardworking, and Resourceful. My resiliency has developed because I have not always been the best on the teams where I have competed. I have learned to observe my peers and pay attention closely to my coaches in order to improve whatever game I may be playing. This is also true in the classroom as I work diligently to earn the grades I have. I have had to learn to be resourceful and reach out for help in my classes and for extra time with coaches. These have been times when I have often been surrounded by others who are excelling and moving at a pace faster than I might be. This has not been easy, but what I am learning is that I am earning the place where I make it to. My reaching out for extra support and coaching is teaching me that hard work can pay off and that the success that follows, is often much more fulfilling because I know I have poured my heart and soul into the task.
