Hello Coaches,
My name is Jack Hilton and I am a golfer. I started playing golf when I was 10 years old but before that, I was an avid baseball player. I have always been able to hit the golf ball a long way and I believe the strength and skills I developed playing baseball have enabled me to do so. In the fifth grade, I had the opportunity to play on my middle school golf team at Carmel Christian School. That first year on the team gave me the passion to pursue the sport competitively. In that season, our team was undefeated and won the conference championship. I got second place individually in the conference championship and was all-conference. In the next two years, our team was undefeated and I got back to back first place finishes in the conference championship. In my eighth grade year, I had the amazing opportunity to play on Carmel Christian's Varsity Golf Team. Playing varsity golf while in middle school was a growing experience for me and our team got second overall in the conference championship. This year I moved to Charlotte Christian High School and had a great time learning more about playing high school golf. My goals for golf are to be the best I can possibly be. I don't want to look back on my golf career thinking that I didn't give it my all.
School is also very important to me. My parents have always encouraged me to focus on school over golf. I work very hard at school and have always kept straight A's. My favorite subjects are Math, Language Arts, and History. School is a very important part of my life.
In addition to being a student and a golfer, I am also a Boy Scout. I have been a member of Troop 116 Charlotte for over three years and am an Eagle Scout. I have been on numerous high adventure trips. The biggest of these being an 85-mile backpacking trip in New Mexico. In 2015, I was awarded the Patrol Leader of the Year Award. I am currently working on obtaining my Eagle Scout rank. Scouts has taught me numerous lessons in leadership and character which has been a great benefit to my golf game.
My strengths as a golfer are my creativity, my power, putting, and definitely my mind. My weakness can sometimes be consistent with wedge distances, but I put in extra practice every day to make this a strength. My greatest strength though is my persistence. If I have a problem I can't solve, no matter if its a math problem or a shot I will work at it tirelessly until its fixed. One of the ways I work toward this goal is strength training. I train hard at the gym a couple of times a week so I can have every advantage when I get on the course. I can max bench press 185 x3, squat 245 x10, and deadlift 280x3. In conclusion, I really hope you will take me into consideration for your team. I will always have the team's success in mind, be a leader, and do my absolute best. Thanks!
