Growing up, I have been involved in youth sports from the time I could throw a ball. My primary focus early on was football and basketball until the day I discovered golf. Spending time at quarterback and shooting guard, I competed at high levels coming in 3rd at Nationals with my AAU team, while winning many local and regional tournaments over the years. In seventh grade, however, I discovered golf and have never looked back. I transferred schools going into 8th grade and quickly learned to be a leader and motivator among my new teammates. Playing for my middle and high school golf teams has not only been a competitive opportunity but the relationships with coaches and teammates has been immeasurable.
Since discovering golf, it has truly become a passion. There is not a day that I am not playing, practicing, and honing my skills. If the course is closed I’m on the putting green or viewing skills videos. I am always asking when and where I can play golf next. In that context, I have been competing in National Junior Golf Tour, Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, and most recently Tarheel Youth Golf Tournaments and Qualifiers. I made all conference during my sophomore year, played for conference and regionals but then broke my foot prior to States. I was scheduled to play at States but couldn't with the break. While that was a huge disappointment, I took that time to focus on my short game. I am constantly looking to find ways to improve my game but most importantly I simply love the game. I feel like my work ethic and persistence to perfect my game sets me apart from my peers. To continue my journey and play at a collegiate level is my goal and I am working hard currently and will continue to do so as I look towards college.
