My name is Riley Petersen and I would like to introduce myself as a candidate for your men’s collegiate golf team. Currently, I am a senior at Grand Forks Central High School, and with the completion of this upcoming golf season, will have played varsity golf for five years. Over this past summer, my playing average was 74.8. My USGA handicap is 2.2 at the Grand Forks Country Club (74.0/134). For the past two years, I have been named Most Valuable Player by my high school coach, qualified individually for state the past two years, have the ability to shoot in the low 70's, medalist recipient High School meet with a score of 71 on a par 72; Minnesota JrPGA, Kings Walk Tournament 72, t2. College Golf Camps in Dallas, TX two day total of 153, t16. I have been honored two years in a row to be chosen as a member of the North Dakota Class A, 1st Team All-Conference. My greatest golf strengths include my distance and iron play. I feel my weakness lies in distance control at less than 100 yards; however, my plan for the off-season is to continue to improve upon my golf game at my family’s home in Arizona.
My athletic goal for my college years is to golf competitively at the collegiate level while completing my academic career with a focus on pre-med/dental. Although, my long-term goal would be to play golf for a living, I am going to work hard to graduate with honors and possibly follow in my father’s footsteps of a career in medicine. My ACT test was taken last spring in which I scored 28 out of 36. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, with an adjusted GPA of 4.23 due to the advanced placement classes I have taken thus far in high school. I look forward to college as a wonderful opportunity to pursue my education and to focus on my career development. I believe my skills and abilities could fit well into your program and enable me to contribute to the success of your program.
My high school coach’s name is Josh Cichy and he can be contacted at [email protected]. I would appreciate receiving more information on your program. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Riley Petersen
