Personal Statement
Hi my name is Slade Downing, I am a student athlete at Ada high school. I strive for excellence in the classroom while working harder than anyone on the golf course. I spend majority of my time on the golf course after school, and in the summers I live on the course, I always manage my time appropriately and make sure I have time to do any needed homework. Last year (2012) I was inducted into the "National Honors Society" for academic excellence. I attend an excellent educational system, Ada High School was put into the top 2,000 best schools in the U.S. I am very proud to be a Bulldog. I started golfing 2 1/2 years ago April of 2011 that was the first time I ever went golfing and shot a pitiful 118, I have managed to get my handicap down to a respectable 4 in the last 2 years with no coach being a self taught golfer. My game is still improving every day and I have dropped my avg from a 47 my sophomore year to a 42.5 my junior year to now a 38. My goal for my freshman year in college is to be a scratch to under par golfer and I truly believe this is an extremely realistic goal with my work ethic. I want to acquire a degree in sports management. If my golf game improves the way I think it will there might be a possibility to go pro in the sport of golf; that is my dream and the goals I have set for myself will help me make my dreams come true whether it's the dream of pursuing golf or my dream of being a sports manager, goals have molded my life and I hope your goal is to recruit the hardest working student athlete in the NWC. This year I won the Player Of The Year award for the NWC and won the medalist at sectionals moved on to the District tournament and took 1st runner-up and made it to the State Tournament. I finished an unfortunate 24th at the State Tournament and will use my experience to fuel my goals set for next year.
