Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Cole Thomas. I am a senior at Arlington local school in Ohio. I am a four year letterman and began playing on the varsity team my freshmen year. My freshmen year team yielded two players that went on to play collegiate golf. My team made it to the district finals my freshmen year, sophomore year, and junior year. I finished with an honorable mention in my conference final my sophomore year. My Junior year I was the Player of the Year for the Blanchard Valley Conference, second team all district and my team made it to the state tournament where we placed 5th as a team and I placed 21st as an individual. My Junior Year I averaged 37.128 strokes for 9 holes and 78.6 for 18 holes which included two rounds in the state tournament. This past summer I played in the Optimist international golf tournament for the first time. The pre-qualifier was held at the Delphos Country Club, where I qualified with an 83. The District qualifier was held at Tam 'O Shanter golf course in Canton Ohio where I qualified for the international tournament in Florida at PGA National with a 76. At PGA National I shot 81, 86, 83 but did not make the cut for the final day. I would make a good candidate for your golf team because I never accept poor play and will work to perfect each part of my game. I practice about 8 to 10 hours a day in the summer, sometimes leaving the golf course at around 10 P.M. I pride myself on a strong work ethic which has gotten me to where I am today and will get me even further in the future. I am a good student as well, I have a 3.79 GPA and scored a 25 on the ACT. My character is reflected well in the activities that I am involved in such as the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, church youth group and various volunteer activities around the community. I am interested in pursuing a business management/business administration degree and I am very excited to go on and continue my golfing career as well.
