Personal Statement

My name is RJ Plunkett, and I am a senior in high school and the Captain of my golf team. I have played golf since I was 4 years old, and played Varsity all four years of high school, but was mainly a baseball player until my sophomore year of high school. I was primarily a pitcher, and made the decision to switch completely to golf the summer after my sophomore year. I found it more fun as I got to play all the time - whether I played well or not, I was playing. I improved in tournaments and matches an incredible amount in just one year, and I know I will continue to improve. I have found my sport, and I would love to play it in college. I'm interested in being on a team where I will get to play. I am thinking DIII would be the best fit for me, but if there was a DI or DII school where I would get to play and develop as a golfer, I would be very open to that. I have great grades in school and would like a competitive academic environment as I take school seriously. I’m a very fun and outgoing person who loves golf. I'll work extremely hard for you in school and your golf team.
