Dear College Coaches,
Since a very young age, I have been striving to play golf at the collegiate level. Through the game of golf, I have learned that I am a very introverted person, but I also love being part of a team. I was a multi-sport athlete, and balancing the commitment of multiple high-level sports was something I loved but was also challenging. The summer going into high school was when I committed fully to golf. This pushed my game to the next level. I was the first student at my school to individually win the provincial high-school championship. With hard work and dedication, I notched many wins under my belt. However, I have also known what it is like to struggle and not have shots go your way. The importance of resilience and getting to the course (or garage in the winter) each day to begin training again never fades. It does not matter what I did yesterday, what matters is what I have learned and where I want to go today. I will continue to try to improve each day.
I could not have reached this level without my incredible team around me. I am part of a program called Course Kings All-American. Coach Jeff Smith and Coach T.D Luten are the ones to whom I credit my game. I knew it was an amazing opportunity to be invited to work with Coach Jeff, who is the swing coach to a number of PGA players, and Coach T.D. who used to Coach for Duke University. Their knowledge of the game has allowed me to reach a level I never thought I could, and I am only getting better with their help. My trainer Brandon Isaak works to ensure that I build strength and mobility during both the off-season and golf season. The importance of surrounding myself with a strong team is key to my growing success.
In college I want to study criminology to become a law enforcement officer and eventually end up in Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.). Playing golf at the collegiate level will only make me better and prepare me for my future career. Training with a team, balancing golf and academics and experiencing the pressure and highs and lows of the golf season will improve me not only as a golfer, but also as the person I want to become.
I look forward to discussing how I could be a positive addition to your school and your team.
