Ben Weaver '16 Recruiting Profile

 Through hard work and dedication, I hope to achieve my goal of playing on the PGA Tour. I know that before I can do that I need to put in plenty of hard, directed work both on and off the course to reach this goal. I think that collegiate golf can help me reach my goal and I know it will take more than just skill to help me get to my dream. I know that it requires a good character, strong academics, and a considerable amount of determination and dedication.

Through a strong personal belief system and the help of a supportive family my character has developed into what it is today. I hope that collegiate golf can help develop my skills so that they are sharp enough to reach my ultimate goal. I hope that through collegiate golf, I can also improve my academics. I am willing to do anything, I will listen to anyone.

I played several tournaments this year and although it was not my best season, I picked myself up every time and got ready for the next one. I look at every tournament as an opportunity to improve on my last result and prove to everyone I belong in the world of golf and I'm not going away. I see each test in school as well as a time to improve on my last result and be the best student I can be.  At the end of the day no matter how poor I do in a tournament, I hope that people say "He didn't play very well, but he is a really nice kid." In my opinion, character is everything it affects the people around you, and it helps you personally. Bad character does not help your future, good character maximizes the potential for someone to go from good to great in athletics, academics, and life.
