Personal Statement
I would love to play golf on the collegiate level and contribute to the success of a team. I love to golf, and I am very passionate about it. I've only been competing since 9th grade, so I'm late to this game compared to a lot of other kids, but my game has grown tremendously these past three years, and my scores continue to improve. My work ethic is definitely my greatest attribute. I know that hard work is necessary in life and this will translate well to anything else that I pursue down the road. Currently, I have a 3.9 GPA while taking some AP and Honors courses along with extracurricular activities such as jazz band, District band and Region band. As for golf, when I was a freshman, I was very fortunate to be on a high school team filled with seniors who took me under their wing and taught me the competitive game of golf, what it takes to be a team player, and how to be a good sport. As a Sophmore, I took over their role as leader of the high school team, and I love the opportunity to work with my teammates passing on everything that I've learned the past few years. I've gone from being an occasional medalist in high school matches my freshman year, to not losing a head-to-head match against the other teams #1's for the past two years. I love being the first one to tee off for my team and knowing that I have to take care of business and beat my opponent to help my team win. I am the two-time Wyoming Valley Conference AA champion and current reigning AA District champion. As a junior, I advanced to Regionals for the second year in a row, and I was one of 36 AA boys to compete for the Pennsylvania State Golf Championship. The past two years I've been competing on the Philadelphia Junior Tour and I have won two events. I know that there are a lot of great players out there, and I want to continue to challenge myself by competing against the best. Whether I come in first or last at a tournament, I know that I am gaining valuable experience. I look forward to being a collegiate student-athlete and playing college golf.
