Joshua Tromp '23 Recruiting Profile

I grew up in the beautiful country of South Africa. I have played cricket, golf, tennis and hockey at a Varsity level for 3 years while maintaining exceptional academics. I have been in the top 10 academically in South Africa for 6 years and recently  was awarded the top Business student in my school for Grade 10. I was awarded a full 5 year scholarship for sport at the Private IEB School, Trinityhouse Randpark, in South Africa before immigrating to Austin Texas in April 2022. 

This move was exceptionally tough. Leaving an incredible school, my best friends and family was not easy. Arriving in Austin 7 weeks before the end of the year, making the Varsity golf team and completing the semester while achieving exceptional marks. During this time I was playing golf tournaments to try and get noticed here in the USA. Not only this I am very committed to playing cricket. Most of which is played in Houston and Dallas. After being in the USA for just 6 weeks I was selected to play for the Dallas Mustangs in the USA Minor League Cricket tournament. 

I have always pushed myself to be the best – be it at academics or sport and this has taught me that I thrive under pressure. My work ethic, honesty and integrity, athleticism and discipline is my differentiator. I hope that my diversity, my ability to cope with pressure and willingness to work hard for what I want will represent your college brilliantly in 2023.
