There are challenges that I face with a disability called Asperger’s. I don’t let my differences keep me from playing golf. I have the support of my mom and I believe in myself to be successful and accomplish my golf goals. Learning to play golf takes time, ability, courage, consistency, and determination to succeed. Playing golf takes commitment and I read, study, practice, and play so that my drive, chip, putt improves. I take classes and test to be certified, to get to the next level which also increases my knowledge and golf opportunities. The more I practice and play the better my score and lower my handicap.
Golf is a sport that you can play for a lifetime. After playing football, and soccer I was introduced to the game of golf by my grandfather. As a junior golfer, I have challenged myself to persevere through adversity, I am inspired and can even relate by the Jackie Robinson story, even though he played baseball, because kids like me can see that they too can play golf.
My favorite golfers are Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. Some people say I look like Tiger Woods and that inspires me to make a difference. Even though it’s a lot of pressure to be compared to Tiger Woods because he’s won the Masters five times, I am always trying to improve my golf game.
