Personal Statement
Hi Coaches,
My name is Brady Britain. I am a 6’1” Junior from Greenville, TX. I’ve attended Greenville Christian School since pre-K. Growing up, I played football, basketball, and baseball. Golf wasn’t on my radar until the summer before my freshman year when I started playing with my dad and I was instantly hooked! Like most beginners, I could barely get the ball off the ground but I was determined and began going to the golf course every day that summer. My school is small and we did not even have a golf team. My Dad and basketball coach worked to form a golf team and my goal that year was to break 90 in a tournament. After playing the whole year, I shot an 88 in the last tournament of the season. My next goal was to break 80. My low round in my sophomore year was a 74 and I broke 80 in two other tournaments.
I am quarterback of the football team and point guard of the basketball team. I know I got a late start with golf and I would love to concentrate on it year-round, but I also can’t let my teammates down. Football starts August 1st and goes through mid-November then basketball starts immediately. Playing three sports is grueling, but I love my teammates and wouldn’t have it any other way. I was still dedicated to my swing throughout this time and I talked my dad into installing a simulator at home. Through this, I’ve been working hard on my swing in the off-season and am looking forward to golf season this spring.
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while playing three sports and taking honors and dual credit classes. This has given me the chance to learn how to be diligent and manage my time. Studying on the bus ride home from an away game is not my favorite thing, but I’ve discovered that it is a necessity.
Playing college golf is my top goal, and I am determined to go wherever I get the opportunity. I may be a gamble for most coaches, but once I’m in college and can focus on golf year-round, I believe my work ethic and commitment to being a great golfer will pay off.
