I have enjoyed playing golf since I was 6 years old, transitioning to competitive golf since 3rd Grade. I am grateful for my parents who gave me the opportunity to play golf. I know they have spent considerable amount of time and money, so I appreciate them having the confidence in me. My immediate goal is continuing to improve, build a consistent golf swing, and excel as a student. Thereafter, playing golf at the collegiate level and to make a significant contribution as part of the team.
Being part of a homeschooling program, I have managed my time between academics, golf practice and tournaments. I have played at different levels, such as US Kids, Junior NTPGA, TJGT, Legends Tour, AJGA and recently in the Arizona and Northern California Tour. I have learned important lessons during my golf journey; having a detailed plan, staying within the process, pushing/learning through challenges and working hard. I have taken the opportunity to give back to the people around, by mentoring a junior golfer and helping under privileged children learning how to read.
What sets me apart from other teenagers is my lack of fear of failure and adversity, because my mindset of failure is nonexistent, if I learn from every experience. It’s my commitment to the process, fundamentals and mindset which gets me to the result. This is where I analyze as to what I need to continue to work on.
I know my remaining years at High School will be instrumental in my future at the Collegiate level – academically and athletically. My drive to compete and working hard will hopefully give me the opportunity to contribute to a college golf program.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Shivam.
