I started playing golf relatively late in life, beginning in the seventh grade. It is a sport that has you craving for more information and its also one that humbles you in an instant. Currently I am a junior at Kermit High School. I have played on my high school varsity golf team since the ninth grade but I have only played serious tournament golf for approximately 3 years. Although I may not have that much competitive experience I believe that at 6-foot-2, I have great potential and with hard work and determination the sky is the limit. My work ethic has enabled me to shave off numerous strokes each season and now I basically live at the golf course. I play golf year round and never go a week without playing at least 2 rounds. Every summer I play in the North Texas Junior Golf Program. I recently had my very first hole in one on 4-16-13. On May 2nd and 3rd, I played in my first State Tournament. I placed 12th individually out of 72 competitors in 2A State with a 85-78 finish for a 163 two-day total. Every summer, I play in the Northern Texas PGA Junior Tour features more than 3,100 boys and girls ages 7 to 18 and over 250 grassroots tournaments each year. Throughout this last summer, I've played in a total of 8 tournaments ranging all around West Texas with an average score of 76. That being said, I qualified for the West Area Championship up in Canyon, Texas at Palo Duro Country Club. From there, I shot a 75 which qualified me for the Ewing Automotive Tour Championship at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas. Having the opportunity to be 1 of the 20 kids to qualify for this tournament is truly an honor. Like most aspiring golfers my goal is to play PGA tour and I believe that college is an important stepping stone to achieving that goal. It has been my dream to play at the collegiate level and have the chance to further my studies. Thank you for viewing my profile and I look forward to hearing from you.
