Personal Statement

What makes me a good candidate for any golf team is my love for the game of golf. I just don't want to play the game I want to make a difference and I would love to use my golf skills to achieve my educational goals. I am not 100% sure what I want to major in at this point. I have been thinking about it and there are a couple of degree plans I'd like to explore but I haven't made up my mind yet. I am going to take my time with this decision because it is very important to me.

I have been playing competitive golf since I was 8 years old, I started swinging a golf club at the age of 3 and golf has taught me many things. I once lost a TJGT tournament by giving myself a penalty for accidentally moving the ball on the first playoff hole at Horseshoe Bay and I knew that I had to do so even though I was the only one that knew I had done so. It's because the integrity of the game and what it has taught me. I have seen many things playing the game of golf and I believe that honesty is the best policy. It keeps the conscience free.

  • They predicted rain, winds and cold weather and they were right. I never thought it was going to feel that cold. It was a bitter sweet tournament for me. I won the Individual Championship with a 74, fourteen shots ahead of the second place finisher. I started getting a little emotional on my last two holes thinking this was it for high school golf. Well, it's not my last high school tournament exactly. I qualified to Regional's on April 22 & 23 in Corpus Christi.
  • Camp/Event
  • 32-4A Pre-District High School Tournament
  • 3/28/19 to 3/28/19
  • After missing last weeks golf tournament with the flu and not being able to practice for about a week, I was worried about this tournament. After a rough first two holes I settled in to shoot a -1 on the front 9 and a +1 on the back for an even par round.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hidalgo High School Golf Tournament
  • 2/27/19 to 2/27/19
  • My new clubs are starting to come along very nicely. I shot a 72 today and won the individual honors and team championship. The winds were up to about 20 miles an hour today.
  • Camp/Event
  • La Grulla High School Golf Tournament
  • 2/13/19 to 2/13/19
  • It was a beautiful day to play golf. I’m kind of disappointed I didn’t score better but I was the individual champion with a score of 75. I should have listened to my dad and not played with my brand new clubs until I got used to them. I was long on almost all my approaches.
  • Camp/Event
  • LOS FRESNOS INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
  • 2/01/19 to 2/02/19
  • Day #1 - I shot an 80. No excuses I had a bad day on the green and I had a DI coach following me around. To say I was a little nervous is an understatement. Day #2 - I shot a 71. I was eight shots back at the beginning of the day. I knew I had to play my game today, I fought back to take 2nd place. Highlight of the tournament for me, my Coach told me what the leaders posted the second day. So I knew what I had to do to stay up there with them. The second to the last hole I got in trouble off the tee, pitched out, third shot to about 15ft with a 5ft break left for par. I made that putt for par. Last hole, 190yds par 3 over water and two bunkers in the front of the green. I got it on the green to about 25ft away. My buddy tells me you need this for second. I lined it up and a hit the putt, halfway there I start walking it in, birdie! I look over to my buddy and his shaking his head and smiling. Proud feeling!
  • Camp/Event
  • PSJA ISD Boy's Golf Tournament
  • 11/09/18 to 11/10/18
  • Well today was the start of the PSJA Boy's Golf Tournament with 119 boy's in the field. I have to take the good with the bad and today was not a good day for me. The weather did not help any with this cold front coming in early this morning with drizzle. I shot an 82, I'm looking bounce back tomorrow. Day 2 was cancelled due to inclement weather, 51 Degrees and Cloudy!
  • Camp/Event
  • Donna Boy's Invitational - High School Tournament / 6A & 5A
  • 10/05/18 to 10/06/18
  • Yesterday I shot my lowest round in tournament play - 67 / 123 players! I'm the leader after day 1 by one stroke. I was the individual Champion by shooting a 70 on Day 2. Total 137.
  • Camp/Event
  • Region IV Showcase @ The Republic
  • 9/29/18 to 9/30/18
  • Camp/Event
  • Boys McAllen Invitational High School Golf Tournament - 6A/5A
  • 9/14/18 to 9/15/18
  • This is a golf tournament predominately played by 6A and 5A schools. My high school coach has been taking us here since my freshman year. This being my last year in high school I really want to do good, leave my mark if you will. There was about 80 kids that actually played on the 1st day - a lot on schools decided not to show up because of the inclement weather. The 1st day was played in the drizzle/rain. After the 1st day I sat in 2nd place with a 74 to Sharyland's Jimmy Lee's 71. I was excited because we'd probably get paired together on Saturday. We got back to the school Friday to learn that all Travels had been cancelled for Saturday. I understood the radars look pretty bad with rain. Saturday morning came with not a drop of rain and the sun was out. We didn't go I felt terrible!
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA Junior Tour - Riverside Municipal Golf Course
  • 7/30/18 to 7/31/18
  • The last couple of day's we were in Victoria, Texas playing an STPGA tournament. I was the individual champion for the 3 day event with a -2/70 on Day1 and a +2/74 on Day 3. I'm very pleased with my play considering I had never played here.
  • Camp/Event
  • 38th Annual South Texas Junior Golf Classic
  • 7/14/18 to 7/15/18
  • I had a solid round of golf today with a score of 73. I'm hoping for another solid day tomorrow I have to stick to my game plan. 2nd day I shot a 74 which tied me for the championship. I lost the championship on the first hole. The guy made one heck of a putt from about 35ft for birdie. I parred the hole. What can you do when something like that happens? I went straight up to him and congratulated him on one heck of a putt/championship.
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA - The Dual at Comanche Trace
  • 6/24/18 to 6/25/18
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA Tournament-Prestigue Tour
  • 6/11/18 to 6/12/18
  • This will be the first time I play this course. I believe there will be about 100 players in my division!
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA Tournament
  • 5/27/18 to 5/27/18
  • This was the first tournament of the summer (local tournaments), STPGA. My putting let me down today. I had plenty of chances to score but the putts didn't go in. I still came in 6th place.
  • Camp/Event
  • Texas Amatuer Qualifier
  • 4/27/18 to 4/27/18
  • I'm not going to lie about this qualifier. I've played many tournaments and it had been a long time since I felt scared on the first tee box. I was paired with a guy drinking beer and the other was smoking. I had never experienced that in any of my tournaments. I shot a 41 on the front nine and I settled down the second nine with a even 36 for a total of 77. I didn't make it finished in the middle of the pack.
  • Camp/Event
  • Region IV Golf Tournament
  • 4/23/18 to 4/24/18
  • Now that some time has passed and the State Tournament is over, I guess I should talk about why I didn't make it to State this year. Everything happens for a reason my Mother and Father tell me. I went into the first day at regional's with a 101 temperature and shot one of the worst scores I've ever posted an 81. I came back the second day feeling better and posted a 74. It turns out I missed going to State with two strokes. I really thought I had a chance but everything happens for a reason they say!
  • Camp/Event
  • The District 32-4A Golf Tournament
  • 4/02/18 to 4/02/18
  • Well the winds were gusting at thirty miles an hour and this time the weather man did not lie. It was a very tough day for all us but I still won the District's Championship (individual and team). Now we're on to Regional's in Corpus Christi where the wind is always blowing hard over there.
  • Camp/Event
  • District 32-4A Pre-District Golf Tournament
  • 3/29/18 to 3/29/18
  • I was the Individual Champion with a score on -1 par 70. My team also won the Team Title. I Eagled the 13th hole which is a 501yd par 5. I got on in two shots with my second shot from 190yds to about 4 feet for eagle and I made it! Followed that with a birdie on hole 14!
  • Camp/Event
  • Battle at The Republic
  • 3/12/18 to 3/13/18
  • I will be playing at this tournament during Spring Break!
  • Camp/Event
  • Progreso Red Ants High School Golf Tournament
  • 1/29/18 to 1/29/18
  • This was the first high school tournament of the Spring for me. I was the individual champion with a round of 70. My score also helped my team win the team championship as well.
