Michael Campos '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Michael Campos and I am from Bountiful, Utah. My graduation year is 2023 and I will be graduating from Bountiful High School. I have a 3.9 GPA and I work very hard when it comes to school and academics. I am in Honors and AP Classes, I am always on the High Honor Roll, and I am a member of the National Honors Society.  I am also a talented musician and singer. I have won various awards for being an outstanding pianist over the past 7 years. I have competed in solo and ensemble competitions earning superior ratings for both my cello and choral performances. 

I have been playing golf and competing regularly in Utah PGA Junior Series tournaments since I was 12 years old.  Our High School regular golf season just ended and our team took 1st place in our Region 5-5A Tournament Championship were I placed 2nd overall with a -4 under par 68. Last year our men’s High School golf team shot the lowest combined score in Bountiful High’s history where my score of 72 contributed to our score of 226. I have competed on the varsity High School golf team since I was a Freshman and as a Senior I looked forward to improving and playing college golf. The summer has been very busy and full of tournaments where I competed in the Utah PGA Junior Series boys 17-18 Flight A division. This past summer I played in 12 tournaments, many of which were 2 day events.  My best finish was a tie for 7th place with a score of 74. This summer I also competed and won our club junior championship the Oakridge Junior Club Championship. I continue to improve more and more everyday,  I set a goal this past summer to be shooting in the mid 60's to low 70’s for the upcoming high school season and so far I am on track. I have been working with a top rated swing coach and I am now shooting scores in the high 60's to low 70’s with a personal best score of -4 under par 68 on a par 72 course.  I went from a 9.1 handicap to a 2.0 handicap over this past golf season and I am excited to keep improving and work towards becoming a scratch or plus handicap player. My passion for golf has been rekindled and I am eager to push myself and unlock my full potential as a junior and colligate golfer.  I know golf is an individual sport however I believe I'm a team player and believe I can be a great asset to you and your team.  I look forward to chatting with you soon.
