Personal Statement
My name is Gabe Schino and I am a golfer from Draper, UT. I am 5'11", and swing left handed. I attend Corner Canyon High School in the graduating class of 2020, and have played on the Charger golf team for 3 years.
Over the summer between my freshman and sophomore year I was able to play almost every day. Each round I focused on achieving a goal, such as 10/14 fairways or 75% scrambling. This dedication helped my sophomore year be a success. I averaged 77, played on the varsity squad, lettered and played in the Utah High School 5A State Championship where I posted the second lowest score on my team. Over the next spring and summer, I began competing in UJGA tournaments. I also averaged 77 in these competitions. A highlight was competing in the Challenger Cup tournament and being on the winning South team.
I continued to improve my game entering my junior year by changing my set up to the ball and pre-putt routine. I averaged 75 playing on the varsity squad, lettered, qualified as 1st team all-region and played in the Utah High School 5A State Championship where I posted the third lowest score in the individual competition. I plan to compete in UJGA tournaments again beginning in March 2019.
Academics are important to me and I currently have a 3.75 GPA. My goal is to attend a college or university anywhere in the country. My hope is to attend a school where I can make an impact on the golf team through playing time, and bringing a good attitude and demeanor to the team on and off the course.
