Josh Shapiro '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Josh Shapiro and I am a member of the high school class of 2022. I currently attend the Potomac School in Mclean, Virginia, where I actively participate in the classroom and contribute as a member of the golf team. I pride myself on my studies and maintaining a high grade point average at an elite private school like Potomac. 

At Potomac, I have had a strong start in my first two seasons on the varsity team. As a freshman, I placed top ten in the conference and was the only freshman to receive All-Conference honors. As a sophomore, I had the lowest scoring average in my conference and again placed top ten and received All-Conference honors, while also bringing a championship banner back to Potomac for the first time in 17 years. I love being a part of a team and enjoy pushing my teammates, as they reciprocate the same to me, in pursuit of winning. 

Ever since picking up a club, I have had an extreme passion for the game. Golf consumes the entirety of my summers and any free moment during the school year. I am extremely dedicated to the improvement of all aspects of my game and I work tirelessly and diligently throughout the year. I have an older brother who plays collegiate golf who pushes me and I aspire to follow in his footsteps. 

I recently began working with Kirk Lucas, who is a phenomenal coach who has dramatically changed my game in the short period I have worked with him. A combination of touch and distance gives me unique potential that I hope to bring to a team at the collegiate level. Any university willing to give me a shot will be getting a student who prides himself on high marks in the classroom, as well as a golfer who can have an immediate impact as both a teammate and a player.
