Personal Statement
My name is Jacob Stiefel, and I am currently a senior at Woodbridge Senior High School in Woodbridge, VA. I have been playing golf since I was two years old, while also competing in several other sports along the way. One of my goals is to play competitive golf at the collegiate level. Even though I have played golf since I was very young, I am constantly learning and enjoy the opportunity to continue to grow, both as an athlete and as an individual.
I take pride in my ability to balance both academics and athletics and would value the opportunity to continue playing golf while pursuing my education at the next level. As someone who has experienced failures and setbacks as an athlete, I never give up and have learned to quickly bounce back no matter the struggle. The challenges I experience on the golf course—the ups and downs—are similar to the challenges that we all face in our everyday lives, and through my faith, I am able to overcome and focus on the things that are truly important.
As a golfer, I have great confidence in my ability to hit creative shots on and around the green. I am constantly working to gain greater consistency, especially off the tee. The concept of losing has always been hard for me to live with, so I am constantly working on my game and never settle.
