Hockey is not just a sport, it’s my passion. I learned to skate at 3 years old and have never looked back. From hockey tots to house leagues to Tier 1 travel programs, and now Juniors, I have worked hard to develop into the best player that I can be.
Both academics and athletics naturally come easy to me, but I have not always pushed myself to go beyond my limits. It was through hockey that I learned many life lessons including teamwork, dedication, and discipline; but most of all, I have learned the value of working hard and persevering through difficult situations.
This lesson began in my first year of travel hockey. We were a new team with an extremely short bench of only 9 skaters and 2 goalies, and the season started out badly. We struggled to work together and we gave up too easily when we got tired. We didn’t win many games at first, but as the season progressed, so did our determination to prove everyone wrong. In the end, we won the state championship game in a shootout, and I scored the winning goal! It was an amazing feeling that has stayed with me and has helped me to gain a higher level of determination to achieve my goals.
On the ice, I consider myself to be a playmaker and try to be a positive and unselfish player who focuses on creating opportunities for my team. I have excellent vision/hockey sense and have the ability to consistently find the open player. I also have good hands and an accurate shot.
I am grateful for the friendships and opportunities that hockey has given me so far, and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds. I am interested in studying business analytics and meteorology/atmospheric sciences and I am hoping to eventually attend a college that will allow me to pursue both my hockey and career goals.
