Personal Statement
My family’s support for me to play hockey has been immeasurable. I’m truly appreciative of the sacrifices they have made to allow me the opportunity to pursue the love I have for this game. I knew the first time I stepped on the ice at the age of 8 that this was the sport I was going to commit to. The speed, intensity and competitive nature of the game combined with the locker room comradery had me hooked. I consider myself a strong, disciplined, student athlete. At a very young age I found my commitment to improve in hockey led to great results. I then applied that same approach to my academics which led to stronger grades.
Hockey has influenced, in many ways, how I approach life. I have a strong work ethic and commitment to measurable, timebound goals. I have a daily regimen of training, nutrition and journaling that I have found to be critical in owning my outcomes. I have learned the significance of sports science and its direct impact on my ability to perform at peak levels. I have learned a lot about what I can handle and how far I can push myself to get the results I want. My coaches have had a great deal of influence on me particularly around building a strong culture and the value that it can have on team success. I understand that my contribution to team culture is important, and that team culture doesn’t just happen.
I take my education very seriously and invest the same level of passion toward it as I do hockey. I strived for straight A’s every quarter, be recognized at the Cum Laude level or above and plan to leverage this success to secure admission to some of the more selective academic colleges in the country. I graduated in the spring of 2023 from Cicero Preparatory Academy (All Honors School) with a 4.48 weighted GPA. My goal is to play at the Tier 2 level of junior hockey and then attend and play NCAA hockey at a strong academic school.
