Personal Statement
I started to play hockey when I was 8 years old, while still playing baseball. Once I realized how much fun and fast paced hockey was I just knew that hockey would be my favorite sport. I have played many different sports since I was 3 years old, including soccer, lacrosse, football, basketball, baseball and tennis. I would say that I enjoy the competitive part of sports the most. I have enjoyed playing lacrosse in the off season of hockey because it's a physical sport and fast paced like hockey . Being that I live in California, many of my friends surf and I enjoy doing that as well. I am also an avid skier and have enjoyed doing that when the hockey season isn't in full force. Throughout all the fun times, school has always been a priority. I worked very hard this year to improve my GPA. My goal is to ultimately play hockey at the college level and would like to pursue a degree in Astro Physics.
I spend a lot of time in the off seasons on strength training, shooting lessons and skating lessons. Through all of my hard work, on and off the ice, it's helped me to become a power forward, playing on both power plays and penalty kills these past few seasons.
In my spare time, I like volunteering with the local learn to skate programs with the clubs in the area. I also do various other types of charity work with children's programs in the county. I know that giving back to the community is important and volunteering with these organizations has been very rewarding to me.
