Personal Statement
My name is Everett Bailey, and I am excited to have the opportunity to pursue my ambition and achieve my dreams. I have been playing hockey since 2008. Through my years of play, I came to realize that to fulfill my goals both on and off the ice, I would need to take a proactive stance toward my future. I am focused on reaching my athletic and academic goals as I transition to the collegiate level.
I am a coachable player, open and willing to learn new skills. I have an aptitude for adapting as my game as necessary to match the needs of the team. I am punctual and dependable, and strive to always interact professionally with coaches. Additionally, I have a grown into a leader that my teammates can count on, both on and off the ice. If something gets in my way, I see it as a challenge and learning opportunity as opposed to a stumbling block. I consider myself blessed to have a great support system of family and friends; due to the amazing people in my life, I’ve learned when I have a problem or question to ask for help.
I have always focused on both school and hockey, knowing that academic success is as important as winning games. I am proactive, hardworking and resourceful, and it is due to these attributes that I have maintained a high GPA throughout my academic career. I work well with my teachers and administrative staff on campus. I am a well-rounded student athlete and have done my best to “begin as I intend to go on” in moving forward in my pursuit of playing ice hockey.
I believe myself to be a stand-out goalie who would be an asset to any team. On game days, I am hyper-focused on the game to the exclusion of all else. I hold myself to high expectations, such as always being open to change and improving my game, staying competitive and centered, maintaining a high GPA, being respectful of my coaches and teammates, and upholding my responsibilities. I know I will need to work harder than ever before to become a starting goalie at the collegiate level. I look forward to the opportunity of proving myself capable and successful in the pursuit of my ambition.
