Personal Statement
Hockey is a very substantial part of my life. It has impacted me greatly in several different ways, big and small. I've learned time management and understand the value of teamwork and always maintaining a positive mindset in life. Playing this sport has greatly influenced my character, personality and positive outlook.
I began my journey with roller hockey when I was 8 years old. I discovered it through a local roller hockey program and fell in love with it ever since. About a year and a half after beginning roller hockey, I learned how to ice skate and started another on-ice program at my local rink. Hockey has made me understand my life's purpose and overall personality much more as I realize how determined and “hungry” I am to achieve certain goals, in and out of hockey.
I've set important goals for myself in hockey, and significant academic goals/achievements I would like to reach. As I still attend high school, I would like to maintain my 4.0 GPA and even surpass this through AP/weighted classes so I am on the right path to do so in my Junior and Senior years. I also desire to score towering numbers on my SAT and ACT tests.
I have met many obstacles in my career pertaining to both hockey and academics in my life. While playing hockey, I've had to overcome small injuries, teamwork challenges, and holding a positive mindset at all times. Hindurances including academics have consisted of obtaining an A in a tough, weighted class, staying on top of all classes with a very rigorous, demanding hockey schedule, and always finishing homework on time with daily training.
Because of hockey and academics, I have obtained very unique characteristics and skills in my life such as rigid determination, a fierce desire to achieve my goals, and an appreciation for those values in my character.
