Tommy Bittner '19 Recruiting Profile

Growing up in Texas, hockey was never the norm or mainstream enough so that it could easily catch my attention. That was until my family and I began to attend Texas Tornado NAHL games. That exposure snowballed to having hockey on in the house every Wednesday night. One day, I saw Zdeno Chara go end to end and score. At that point, I instantly fell in love with hockey. This love led me into skating lessons, Hockey 101, house league, and eventually my introduction into travel hockey at the squirt level. From the many and grueling years of youth travel hockey, I have learned many valuable lessons and made unbreakable bonds with players, coaches, and parents. In all my years playing B, A, AA, AAA, and high school hockey, I have taken on many roles; as a goal scorer, a grinder, an assistant captain, a two-way defense-man, or an energy guy.

In conjunction with the strides that I have made in my hockey career, has come academic prowess and family growth. Above all else, academics and family are most important. Without those two pillars supporting me, I would not be able to make my hockey dreams come true. Hockey has been an absolute privilege for me and I hope to continue that privilege into college. I plan to finish high school before I enter into Junior A and eventually into College, where I hope to attend a school that can challenge me academically and to be able to play at a high level.
