I started playing hockey at a young age due to my Dad building a ice rink in our backyard. I would also go watch my Dad and Uncle Dan play adult rec league hockey. I started out watching in the stands until the team let me stand on the bench as long as I wore a helmet. I started playing U8 and have played every year since. At the start of my youth hockey career I was on some pretty bad teams as a goalie. I learned how to deal with losing at the time, and also be positive for the next practice of game. One of the upsides of being on a bad team is that I got the practice of seeing 40+ shots a game. I wanted to get better so that my team would have a better chance to win.
During my Junior year I was the third-string goalie for the Varsity team and would not get as much playing time, so I thrived at the JV level by starting 90% of the games and still practiced with both teams.
For the rest of my high school academic career I would like to finish Senior year being in the top third of my class rank by keeping up my good grades. I would like to study Sports Management or Engineering and graduate in four years with a degree that can land me my first job.
My collegiate goals would be to play hockey at the collegiate level wherever I can play. I would be a good candidate for the team because I work hard every practice and in games. I believe that one of the skills that I posses is listening. It would frustrate me when I was younger when my teammates wouldn't listen to the coach. What makes me different from the other recruits in character is that I care more about team success than personal success. I always enjoy being around the rink and the boys.
