Personal Statement
My goal is to play college hockey at the highest level possible. When I was very young, I learned that if you want to get good at something, you work hard and practice it. I apply this to everything I do, which has helped me to be an “A” student, a good teammate and person, and a two-sport athlete. I fell in love with the game of hockey, and I read books about it, spent hours roller blading and playing with my brother, and got on the ice every chance I could. As soon as I was old enough to lift, I started getting my body stronger to help my game. To this day, I love practicing hockey as much as I love playing in games. I think about what I need to work on, and I practice that at home and when I am with my team. In addition to leading my team in scoring this past season, my teammates voted to give me the sportsmanship award. This meant everything to me, because my teammates recognized me as a leader, a hard worker, and a good teammate. When my coaches give me feedback, I often hear that I have very high hockey IQ, I am calm with the puck, and I have a great shot. To summarize, my discipline and work ethic are what set me apart from others.
