Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to explore different science majors, and determine which one will give me the greatest foundation to successfully enter medical school, while being able to continue playing hockey. Hockey has taught me a plethora of valuable life skills ranging from personal to professional. For instance, I tend to have a pass first mentality and I appreciate team success over individual success. Additionally, I have a keen sense of spatial awareness, which gives me an advantage on the ice. I always know where my teammates and opponents are so I can carry out a play without hesitation. My mindfulness, coupled with my size, will facilitate my execution of any role needed effectively. Acquiring this skill has created the potential for me to be a versatile player. Ultimately, throughout my academic career, I have had to learn how to balance academics and athletics so I do not fall behind in either. I have mastered this ability by efficiently managing my time on the ice and in the classroom so I can devote necessary attention to both areas. I plan to continue this practice in college, which will make me a valuable player on any team.
