Dillon Cowles
Defenseman- Right Handed
I am technically playing during my Senior year of high school. While attending high school in Florida, I concentrated on the required courses and took extra classes in preparation for the possibility of future hockey opportunities at the Junior level. In doing so, I graduated a full year early of my formal graduation in May 2021 earning a 3.2 unweighted GPA and 3.9 weighted GPA. While attending Riverview High School in Riverview, Florida, I played on the Lightning High School Hockey League and the Lightning High School Development Team that traveled out of state to play in the NAPHL. Extracurricular activities during high school included hosting fundraising charity events raising money for a local pediatric cancer and wounded warrior organizations. For my high school volunteer hours requirement, I volunteered over 130 hours with the Lightning Hockey Community Outreach Program which is a program that introduced the game of hockey to the younger and underprivileged kids in the Tampa Bay area. As a key defenseman of the travel team Jr. Bulls, we competed and won the State SAHOF championship the 2018-2019 season. In late spring of my Junior year, I was contacted by an NA3HL Coach who had seen my play in some of my NAPHL games asking me to sign with their team. I contacted my NCSA Representative who assisted me in the selection and signing a contract with the Texas Roadrunners NA3HL team in College Station, TX. The Texas Roadrunners were not being in line with my hockey goals, I traded to the NA3HL Bay State Bobcats in Holyoke, MA. Playing for the Bay State Bobcats is proving to be a constructive positive experience providing the opportunity to improve my skills.
