Personal Statement
I have always been mentally disciplined with a focus on consistent results. I don't avoid difficult or challenging situations so that I can learn how to overcome obstacles to success. Whether earning a Tae Kwon Do, black-belt degree, achieving a spot on a squirt major tier 1 hockey team, winning two state championships or maintaining excellent grades, I just keep trying until I achieve my goal. When I am struggling with something related to hockey goaltending, I work hard to improve the technical and physical aspects of my game and ask coaches questions to receive proper guidance. I then apply what I have learned. I would also like coaches to know that I have learned how to manage my time and I know how to balance the rigor of homework and the demands of hockey. I am also very competitive, I like to win. I also set high standards for myself and aspire to play in play-offs/finals/championships. I would say that I am a vocal leader. Choosing to set standards of behavior through clear examples, then motivating my teammates to improve, play hard and win. I always try to be a great teammate. I tend to expect much of myself and those around me, yet I also try to be empathetic. I understand that defeat is an important element of growth, and success comes from learning from my mistakes and collaborating with coaches, teammates and teachers to solve difficult problems.
