Personal Statement
My name is Gavin Pawell, and ever since I was two years old I have been playing hockey wherever and whenever I could. Last season I wore #14 for the Tri-State Spartans u16 AAA hockey club. That season I had 18 goals and 28 assists in 49 games. For the 2016-2017 season, I wore #78 on the Chicago Fury u15 team where I had over 35 points in 45 games. Growing up as a kid whether I was on the ice or at home I learned the most important lesson of my life: work hard and people will take notice sooner or later. This is exactly what I have done every season and, my coaches have always commended me for my work ethic and hustle. Which is exactly what I, as a hockey player, take pride in. I am a hard working player. I take pride in winning 50/50 puck battles. I love getting in the crease an redirecting, or pounding in a loose rebound. That's my type of play.
However, I am more than just a talented hockey player, I am a High Honor roll student at my high school, and am active in eight different clubs as well. Two clubs I specifically take utmost pride in are Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and National Honors Society (NHS). I have been an executive board member of FBLA since sophomore year, and I was elected president for my upcoming senior year. I also take pride in being in National Honors Society, because this is the most prestigious clubs in my school. It was amazing to get my acceptance letter and see my all my hard work towards academics, service, and excellence had paid off.
A few other interesting facts about myself include: I play baseball for a travel team and am a left handed pitcher. I enjoy fishing over the summer at local ponds with friends. I played gaelic football and hurling from age 5-15. Also, when I was younger I had the ability to do shoot the puck on the United Center Ice, and made it on my first try. Then I went on to donate my prize to the Make a Wish foundation, since one of my wishes came true that night I decide to grant another kids wish too. To conclude, I am a driven, hard working student athlete, who is looking to climb his way to the top and earn his spot on a top notch hockey program.
