Personal Statement
Playing college hockey has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid. Seeing NHL stars like Jonathan Toews, Zach Parise, and Ryan Miller play D1 hockey really inspired me to work hard on the ice, off the ice, and in school to achieve this goal. I have also had the privilege to see my brother play college hockey which allowed me to see how competitive and intense college hockey is.
I am a hard working athlete who loves a challenge and doesn't quit, never wanting to let my teammates down. I look forward to going over film with coaches or by myself to see what I can do to improve my game. During practices and film sessions, I am always trying to maximize my time and better myself. I am very coach-able and I welcome constructive criticism from the coaching staff. I want the coaches to point out my mistakes so that I can correct and overcome them. I am constantly communicating with my teammates during games, helping them help me. Even when I am on the bench, I am very enthusiastic and supportive of the team. I enjoy and admire my teammates and love establishing life long bonds with them. Off ice, I have established an intense workout regimen and monitor my diet.
In the classroom I am very similar, I earn good grades and am very hardworking. I challenge myself with my course choices and I eagerly anticipate figuring out problems in my school work when I come across them. I am active at school and have taken leadership positions in student government and youth causes. In college, I plan on continuing these practices to earn my degree. While I am still deciding on my major, I know I am ready to commit myself to working diligently to achieve it.
