Personal Statement
My collegiate goals include the opportunity to major in Education and also be a member of a college hockey team.
What sets me apart from other potential recruits is that I am a well-rounded person ranging from academics (currently have 3.87 out of 4.0 GPA); involvement in sports (hockey, golf and karate, currently hold green belt); and social interests (10 year member of the Boy Scouts currently holding the rank of Life scout; achieved the Order of the Arrow membership; and am currently working towards Eagle Scout Rank. I volunteer as an alter server for St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman, IL; and am a member of my high schools marching band, pep band and concert band, playing the tuba and the sousaphone. I have a true love of history and participate in WWI and WWII reenactments a couple times a year. I also received the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) award, eight grade graduation, for history. When I have any spare time, I enjoy camping, hiking, and spending time with my family and playing video games.
My dedication to my goals is shown not only by the number of years I have been playing a sport, or helping others through my scouts, but also the time involved for all the practices whether I am playing for a local hockey team or a traveling team or both. I have been able to find the right balance of attention required between my sports and my academics. Karate provides the discipline and focus I apply to my academics and achieving my personal and educational goals.
I would like the opportunity to carry over the ability to play hockey at a collegiate level as well as earn a degree in education as History major so I can teach History, since I have such a passion for History.
