Personal Statement
I am a high school sophomore from Midlothian, Texas. Yes, a Texas boy that plays hockey. I am looking forward to playing hockey throughout my junior hockey years and college career.
Hockey was introduced to me when I was 4 years old. A teammate from our 4 year old soccer team invited me to skate with his Mini-mite hockey team. From the moment I stepped onto the ice, I knew hockey was a sport that I would truly enjoy.
I have always been a multi-sport athlete. I have excelled in soccer, baseball, football and track (110 m hurdles and pole vault). But hockey has always been my number one sport. Now as of my sophomore year, I am focusing solely on hockey during the season and off season to work on taking the next step.
Throughout my years of playing hockey, I have learned valuable leadership skills and have had to learn to deal with adversity. The most important lesson that I have learned to date was that the journey to becoming the best player I could be would be hard but it would be absolutely worth it if that is where your heart is.
Part of the reason I have been successful and feel like I will continue to be is that my family is a close knit group that takes care of, supports and encourages each other in our day to day activities. We believe that family is your main support system and we truly root for each other in anything that we are involved in. My immediate family consists of my two younger sisters and my mother and father.
I plan on graduating from high school with honors. I have an emphasis in math because I plan to pursue a degree in business finance in college.
I believe that my drive, determination, agility and quickness both on and off of the ice have been my biggest attributes that set me apart from other goalies. Because of these qualities, I have been given opportunities to play at higher levels while competing with other kids around the country. I am committed to maintaining a high standard for myself and continue to reach for goals that I have set to achieve.
