Personal Statement
Hello, I am Milan Klein from the Eisbären Juniors Berlin u17.
I am from Germany and lived there my entire life but I have experience with speaking English and it's also my best subject at school.
I started playing hockey at EHC Freiburg, where I also grew up. I played for EHC Basel in the Swiss first u17 League, where I spent the time while there were no games in Germany, playing a complete season. After the season in the Swisse League, I came to Berlin where I'm attending SLZB boarding school. It's a state sponsored Programm for talented athletes from all over Germany. It combines school, living on the school campus, practicing with the school team and playing for the U17 first division Team of Eisbären Berlin.
I'm planning to finish my school in Berlin in 2025 and after that, I would like to visit a college in the USA or Canada, because I can combine hockey and education there and develop my game.
I'm still struggling with building my profile here because on most of the topics (for example the grades) there are only options for the American school system, whereas I have German grades.
I am willing to get in contact with college coaches and I will spend more time now developing this profile.
For me as a player, I think I would definitely fit in a college team. First of all I have a huge advantage being tall (6"3) and physical for my age and still growing. I am able to use my body for my game. I also have a well placed, hard wrist shot, good stick handling and good hand eye coordination. I can read the game quickly and anticipate plays.
Right now I am working on my speed and on shooting earlier as i still stick handle too much sometimes.
As a student, I am also very ambitious. My grades are very good and I'm looking forward to have a good graduation (Best grades in English, German, History).
