Personal Statement
My name is Riley Wagner and I have three major goals: (1) Be the best person I can be; (2) Succeed in Academics (Good Grades & a College Education); (3) Continue to improve as a Hockey Player & play at the Junior and College Level. After getting the opportunity to play Junior Major A in Canada for the last two years, I will finish my junior hockey career playing for the Total Athletic Seahawks in the EHL. I have played Center and Left Wing for most of my career; however, I have moved to defense three years ago. I have excelled tremendously and can play anywhere on the ice I am needed to help my team. I have found my niche at defense due to having a forward mentality and see the ice even better than before! Being back on defense I can be even more of the playmaking shut down player I am. Plus by having the forward mentality, it allows me to be one step ahead by knowing what the other forwards are going to do and read the play before it happens. I love to use my speed on the back end and play in front of the net on the power play. My coach loves me skating the puck and using my speed as much as possible.
Recent coaches have described me as "most coachable." I also have been told that I am a hard worker and willing to do anything to improve and meet the needs of my team and coach - as evident by my move to defense. I am looking to continue playing hockey at the collegiate level.
