Personal Statement
I am an ice hockey player from Latvia. I started to practice hockey since I was 4 years old and it has been my greatest passion since than.
I made a decision to moved to the USA earlier this year to advance my hockey skills, and at the same time, hoping to get more exposure to hockey scouts since hockey is my true passion and I am hoping to play for a college team and professionally in the future.
Currently I am playing for New Jersey Rockets U16 Elite team. The previous two seasons (2016/17 and 2017/18) I played in Finland for Pori Ässät. I moved to Finland when I was only 14.5 years old on my own where I was living with a host family. It was a great team to be a part of where I received great training as well as built my personal character that made me become more independent, and more responsible since I was living without my family at such early age.
When it comes to hockey, I believe I would be a great addition to a college team for I am a very dedicated, hardworking athlete and I try to push myself hard at each practice and game in order to get better each day. At each practice I work hard and focus on the areas I have discussed with my coaches where they think I should improve.
When it comes to studies, I am interested to pursue a degree in Sports Management. Currently I am enrolled in Newark Language Institute where I study English and also will do preparation for TOEFL and SAT exams. I am also finishing high school from Riga Distance Highschool which is on-line. Such distance learning requires self-motivation skills and I believe I am managing it really well.
I am truly hoping to have the opportunity to meet some great coaches from the USA colleges, and find a great match where I can add my athletic, as well my academic talent and be a great addition to the college I get an opportunity to play hockey and study at.
