Shea Walsh '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a rising Senior in high school and aspire to further develop my hockey skills and gameplay at the Junior and/or Collegiate level. I am interested in earning a degree and being able to continue playing the game I love. Future coaches can expect me to be a good two-way Defenseman. One of my main strengths is my versatility. In my travel hockey career, my coaches have utilized this ability by playing me at Defense, Center, winger ,power play and penalty kill. My time playing and learning different positions in the game, previously playing forward allows me to bring an offensive game And mindset when needed along with soild defensive play. I believe the greatest assets I bring to the ice are my skating, and playmaking ability. I am able to see the ice well and use my speed and edge work to manage the pace of play and create time and space for myself and my teammates on the offensive and defensive end  . I am also able to bring a physical and grit aspect to my game. I welcome going into the hard hit areas on the boards and defend the front of the net, picking up sticks and bodies. I currently play on the Montgomery Ice Devils 18U AA team. I was a starter as a freshman on my varsity high school hockey team (Rockville/Magruder). I am passionate about hockey but also know the importance of academics. I take primarily honors and AP classes. For both my freshmen and sophomore year I was named to the Maryland Student Hockey League (MSHL) Academic Honor Roll. In addition to varsity hockey, I am a starter on varsity lacrosse, as well as play varsity golf at my high school. I believe my skills, work ethic and desire to improve, as well as academic excellence, make me a good candidate for any program.
